This review is in praise of the services I have received from Justice Systems Assessment and Training (J-SAT) and Brad Bogue. I have worked with Brad Bogue and members of his staff in regards to evidence based practices, risk needs assessment training and the use of the Risk and Resiliency Check Up tool. The Risk and Resiliency Check Up tool training was provided Regionally last year while I was chief of Amador County Probation.
In addition to specific training, Mr. Bogue has worked with me in my role as the chairperson of the Chief Probation Officers of California Adult Services Committee. He has, on his own time, provided data and other information that has helped me move our committee to a point where there is legislation being penned to support our proposals aimed at improving the assessment and other services in our adult caseloads statewide.
Our department’s mission and goals include creating and sustaining a safe and healthy atmosphere in our rural community. We cannot stop all crime, but I do believe we can provide services, which provide repair to the economic and social loss of victims while increasing accountability and developing competency in offenders. J-SAT and Mr. Bogue appear to be realists in this world of uncertainties due to funding, population shifts and severity of crime. I appreciate their willingness to help us all in developing systems which can truly make our communities safer and healthier.
