We are an international consulting firm
that brings Evidence Based Practices (EBP) and performance measurement strategies
to federal, state, and local correction agencies through system evaluation, training,
and assessment and tool development services. We work with each customer to develop
instruments and practices that provide the optimum fit for their ongoing needs and
cultures.
Since 1996, we have contributed to the evolution of community corrections by
guiding agencies in multiple countries and 35 states into strategies and
technology geared toward obtaining greater accountability and lower recidivism
rates. We are the current leader in large scale system evaluation and change
management with extensive experience in design, training, implementation, and
quality assurance in each of the following:
- Offender assessment--implementing statewide standardized assessment protocols
(paper and automated)
- Treatment planning--automating supervision and
treatment plan systems for judicial probation and parole systems
- Service provider tracking--automating lists of state service providers for fast,
optimal offender-to-treatment matching and at-a-glance service provider
evaluation
- Tool validation--of assessment tools for a variety of offender populations
- Program evaluation--both statewide and local programs, using scientific sampling
and substantive testing
- Quality assurance--through training and implementation of software,
instruments, and data management protocols for:

levels of offender recidivism risk
- Workload measures--for both officers and managers and reallocating resources for
optimal case management

transitioning from criminal justice services into the community

Our mission is to identify, design, and transfer the necessary skills and tools that enable community
corrections practitioners to constructively empower themselves, the people they
serve, and the communities they live in.
We believe that constructive social change
begins with individual change that is shared through interaction with others. Individual
change is a function of awareness, skills and committed practice, as well as social
support and interaction. While people differ externally regarding these factors,
internally, all people have tremendous untapped resources. J-SAT is committed to
“leveling the playing field” so that needier and riskier people under jurisdiction
receive greater access to tools related to critical influential factors and, ultimately,
to their own deeper personal resources.
“I was more than pleased…J-SAT exceeded our expectations with the LS/CMI and Motivational Interviewing training that they provided. As a state, we’ve come a long way in regards to implementation of new state standards and requirements. A majority of that advancement is directly attributed to the training J-SAT provided.”
— Kelly Vance, Oklahoma DOC LSI-R Coordinator, Community Sentencing Specialist
“I am so impressed with J-SAT’s trainers. What phenomenal professionals! It took a lot of experience and sensitivity to get our group going and carry the momentum to the heights we went to. Now I know what the spirit of Motivational Interviewing feels like!”
— Debbie Tinajero, Arizona Juvenile Probation Training Participant
“J-SAT’s Motivational Interviewing workshop was a great training. If not the best, one of them. In my yearly evaluation, I had indicated that one of the things I wanted to improve upon over the next year was to view things more positively. I believe I was an extremely positive person when I started with this department. Lately my glass has been half empty. I feel this training will help officers and others within the department who spend any time with the juveniles. It seems to be a more positive approach, not an accusatory approach (even with violators). I believe that if we can all, as a whole, approach the juveniles in the manner that MI provides, there will be greater successes. Whoever selected me to attend this training, thank you very much! It came at a time that I feel was most beneficial.”
— Dany Barnette, Arizona Juvenile Probation Training Participant
“I can’t explain just how wonderful this experience was! The trainers were incredible, the format was effective, and the material was impressive.”
— Michelle McNamar, Nebraska State Supreme Court Training Participant
